Clubs and societies

Uni isn't just about books and study – you're also here to meet new people, try new things, share knowledge and discover your hidden talents. One of the easiest ways to make the most of your time at Deakin is to join one of our clubs and societies.

Get involved

From sport, health and personal development to religious, political and course-specific groups, there's more than 120 clubs and societies across our campuses. You're sure to find one that suits your interests!

Keep fit

Whatever sport you're into (or whatever you'd like to try), there's a Deakin sports club ready to welcome you. Our sports clubs include the Deakin Burwood Basketball Association, Deakin University Football and Netball Club (Sharks) & Sharks Players United, and Deakin Snow Riders (DSR).

Expand your horizons

Learning a language? Planning a holiday? Love the food? Or just want to share your culture with others? A few of Deakin's cultural clubs include the Australia China Youth Association, Deakin Cultural Diversity Club (DCDC) and Hong Kong Student Society (HKSS).

Boost your knowledge

Are you passionate about an industry or academic subject – or just want to expand your knowledge? Many of our clubs and societies focus on academic interests, faculties and schools, like the Deakin Nursing Society (DNS), Engineers Without Borders, and Feminism and Equality Network Deakin (FEND).

Share your faith

Want to connect and share your faith with others? Discuss your spirituality at one of our religious societies – the Christian Union Burwood, UniVerses or Islamic Society of Deakin University (ISDU).

Get social

Just want to meet some people who share your interests, no matter how niche? Join a social club! Deakin social clubs include D-argh! Games and Anime, the Deakin Geelong Queer Collective and the Deakin Horror Club (DHC).

Blood, sweat and cheers: Sarah's story

As a first year uni student, Sarah Morris tried out for the Deakin Dragons with no cheerleading experience. Not only did she make the team, she became club president.
